Kate Hoppe, MPH, MA

As the owner and founder of CivicPoint Consulting, Kate helps organizations move to action for healthy, equitable, and resilient communities. Her lifelong passion for creating a better world led her to an environmental college where she discovered that, in order to change the world, we have to first understand people and society. With education in human behavior and systems change, backed by a bachelor of science in sociology, a master of arts in philosophy, and master of public health, Kate has applied this learning to engage people in shaping a better future for more than 10 years. This includes leading initiatives and teams at Backpacker Magazine, the YMCA, in state and local health departments, and ta Children’s Mercy Hospital.

From 2018-2020 she served as an appointed member of the Board of Health Commissioners in Kansas City, Missouri, where she advocated for funding for an evidence-based violence prevention initiative and launched the Community Health Improvement Planning Committee to address the root causes of low life expectancy and inequity in the community. Her dream is to have a backyard vegetable garden and compost bin (harkening back to her summer as a garden intern on an off-the-grid homestead) and is actively building out initiatives to help people advocate for themselves and the issues they care about.
